Carrach Designs

A manipulator of colour, pattern and texture using natural organic fibres - pure cotton, silk. wool and alpaca, materials which allows the dyes to interact creating bold intense colour. Carolyn creates unique wearable art using the Shibori methods of stitching, wrapping, binding, pleating, and folding.  Which allows for the creations of three-dimension sculptural forms before dyeing and steaming changing the memory of the cloth into a new manipulated form.

Experimenting with silk painting, marbling, indigo, eco dyeing (Avocado and rust) and combinations of these various methods/techniques allows Carolyn to explore the unknown, allowing chance to intervene opening up a fabulous world of colour, pattern and texture from differing perspectives.

Vivid vibrant colour predominates her silk work whilst the blue and white of indigo allows more intricate patterns to be formed.

Her pieces are often embellished with beading stitching and found objects, creating unique original one only design.

Inspired by her surroundings and the Australian bush Carolyn has transferred the feel, the colour, and the texture into her wearable art.

Her range includes scarves, wraps, shawls, bags, journals, garments, and her sculptural native Australian Sea Dragons
